NSW Stage 5 Mathematics — Core and Paths

NSW Stage 5 is not a simple list of Year 10 equivalents. The syllabus uses mandatory Core learning plus optional Paths that extend students towards Stage 6. This guide maps SkillrHub's canonical Year 10 lessons to the relevant Stage 5 content groups without inventing one-to-one outcome codes.

How Stage 5 is organised

Core groups include Number and finance, Algebra and equations, Ratios and rates, Linear and non-linear relationships, Pythagoras and trigonometry, Length, area and volume, Geometrical properties and figures, Data classification, visualisation and analysis, and Probability. Paths extend into further algebra, functions and graphs, further trigonometry, proof, networks, statistical enquiry and further probability.

Working mathematically — communicating, reasoning, understanding and fluency, and problem solving — is embedded across these groups.
