Read a method log: same paper size, same supports, same load steps, but a pupil doubled one paper layer accidentally. Mark the problem and write a corrected plan of three steps.
Task 5
A wet cloth dries in 25 minutes on one day and 40 on another. Write two questions about conditions that might explain the difference. Choose one and describe what you would keep the same in a follow-up.

With a partner or adult, each gently release the same small block from the same low cardboard ramp onto a clear floor three times. Measure travel from the same start in centimetres. Record both sets, compare them and name one further question. You may instead ask for two sample records.
Answers and adult review checks
Task 1
Answer: Both groups found similar distances from 44 to 46 cm. Individual trial orders differ, but the findings are consistent for these conditions.
Require reference to both records; do not require an average or claim that all measurements must match.
Task 2
Answer: Headings might include recording period, number of people, shower duration or measured volume. These clarify whether event counts represent comparable use.
Inspect a drawn table and explanations for two relevant headings; event counts alone must not become litres.
Task 3
Answer: Design B meets the stated dry-and-load requirements; A meets only the water requirement.
Require a written decision referencing both needs and both designs, not merely a product preference.
Task 4
Answer: The layer number changed. Record the error, prepare equal layer numbers, and repeat with the same sizes, supports and loading procedure.
Check an identified error and an actionable repair that retains the original evidence honestly.
Task 5
Answer: Ask about airflow or warmth, for example. To test airflow, keep cloth type, starting water amount and warmth similar while changing airflow.
Require two relevant questions, one selected factor and suitable controls; neither cause is assumed proven.
Task 6
Answer: Ask whether the same shadow, unit and ruler start were used. Retain 31 cm, note the concern, check the procedure and measure again.
Inspect a neutral question plus honest checking; do not accept deleting only because the reading is unexpected.
Task 7
Answer: A absorbed more than B in this matched test, 22 mL compared with 15 mL. This does not establish suitability for every use or size.
Require both values, the relevant absorption claim and a meaningful scope limit.
Task 8
Answer: Records should show six labelled measurements. A comparison may identify similar or different patterns; the follow-up should arise from the results or a method uncertainty.
Keep the ramp low and area clear; no projectiles or glass. Review the actual two records and evidence-based comparison, not a predetermined result.
