Too many resources can become a problem

A relief or replacement teacher may arrive with little preparation time and need to understand immediately what students are learning. A parent may spend an evening searching for worksheets without knowing whether they are too easy, too difficult or relevant. Families and schools often respond by buying subscriptions, workbooks, tutoring packages, apps and downloadable bundles. Across a year, the offers can add up to hundreds or thousands of dollars. Some paid resources are excellent, but price does not automatically guarantee that an explanation suits a learner, that a worksheet matches the lesson, or that a test assesses the same skill that was taught. Free resources can also be excellent, but they are commonly scattered across the web. The real challenge is connecting the pieces.

2. Use the Teacher Slide

Students should not meet one model on the topic page and a completely unrelated explanation in the next resource. Familiar representations reduce unnecessary cognitive load and let the teacher focus attention on the idea itself.
