- Students learn to understand how to apply knowledge of phoneme-grapheme (sound-letter) relationships, syllables, and blending and segmenting to fluently read and write multisyllabic words with more complex letter patterns. - Worked example: Read “sunset” by working through its two syllables, then blend them to read the whole word. When writing, segment the word and check its spelling pattern.
