Quick preparation
- Students learn to plan, create, edit and publish imaginative, informative and persuasive written and multimodal texts, using visual features, appropriate form and layout, with ideas grouped in simple paragraphs, mostly correct tense, topic-specific vocabulary and correct spelling of most high-frequency and phonetically regular words. They use the visual model, precise vocabulary and evidence to explain and apply the concept.
- Use this routine: Notice → Read/View → Discuss → Apply → Explain.
- Watch for editing and revision are identical: Revision changes meaning and structure; editing checks conventions.

- Worked example: For a playground sign, plan who will read it, draft a short instruction, add a useful picture, then check and share the final copy.
- Common mistake: Choosing an editing answer is only part of writing. Complete the requested plan, draft, changes and final piece.
- Assessment guidance: Have paper or a writing tool ready. An adult reviews the completed writing and visuals against the task; saving a response does not mark the work correct.
