💡 Quick Review

Multiplication and Related Division

Multiplication describes equal groups. Division can undo multiplication by finding the number of groups or the size of each group.

Key ideas

  • 2 times table
  • related division
  • missing factors
  • equal groups and arrays
  • 5s and 10s extension

Worked example: 2 × 7 = 14, so 14 ÷ 2 = 7.

Common trap: Do not treat division as commutative; 14 ÷ 2 is not the same as 2 ÷ 14.

Key words

factor — number being multiplied
product — result of multiplication
divide — split or group
quotient — result of division
array — objects arranged in rows and columns
How to use this drill: review the short notes when learning, then close them on later attempts and practise from memory. The rotating bank delays a full set repeat for 30 attempts on the same browser.
